Seattle Day 39

Radiation Day 26
Yesterday was two months since we were given Aidan's diagnosis and I can't believe that we did not realize it until today. Time sure does fly by when there is such chaos and yet, it feels like it has been six months since we found out. We have a long five years ahead of us.
Today was an extra long day at radiation. First, we came in late today because they had to do a total body irradiation in the morning before we got there. It was for a 10 month old little boy named Conner that is staying here also. They had us come in at 9:30, but when we arrived they were still not quite ready for us so we had to hang out in the main waiting room. After about a half hour or so they called us back.
When Aidan came out of radiation today and they took his blood pressure it was 68/36, not good. Dr. Anderson said that dehydration can bring about low blood pressure and he asked Tami to recheck it in about ten to fifteen minutes. Once again it was low, but slightly better. Since it had gone up slightly they decided to check it again in twenty minutes. This time the cuff woke Aidan up and his pressure was still low so Dr. A ordered Aidan to get 200ml of fluids at a 100ml per hour drip. This did not make Aidan happy. It wasn't much help that he only had about an hour of sleep instead of his normal two and a half.
To keep him occupied, we took him down to the cafeteria to push some liquids down him and get him some food. It seemed to do the trick because he was in much better spirits after eating.
When we got back to the recovery room Wendy and Tami were waiting for us to unhook Aidan from his infusion machine. As we were to leave Mike when to take a step and his foot got caught on one of the machines they use to check Aidan's oxygen saturation. Boom, and the next thing you know the machine was on the floor. Mike felt so bad. The day had already been so crazy then to end it with a broken machine was not what we were hoping for.
We finally got out of there and decided to just head back to the house. Mike worked on his studying for a while longer while the boys and I hung out. Soon it was five and time to head downstairs for dinner that was being provided by the company that supplies McDonald's restaurants. Once again we had a great meal. Mike and I had grilled chicken sandwiches and the boys had cheeseburgers. There was also salad. fruit, chips, apple dippers, and the boys favorite, dippin dots! To make the dinner even better in the boys eyes, all you wanted free Happy Meal toys. They both were able to each get one of every Cars toy that McDonald's is putting in Happy Meals. They were in seventh heaven. Plus there was NeoPets and Beanie Babies. The kids thought the whole thing was pretty cool.
After dinner we headed upstairs to wait for Nannie and Papa to arrive. After an hour of catch up we all decided to get ready for bed so we could get some sleep before our early morning tomorrow.
