End of Radiation Party

July 23, 2006

As you may have seen on the events page, today was extremely hot, not exactly the best day for an outdoor party and yet, things went well.  As we had expected he turn out was small since it was so hot.  I can't blame anyone because I would have never have had Aidan or Sage out in that heat if we didn't have to be.  Those that were there though made it all worth while.  We were able to see so many friends that we had not seen in a very long time.  It amazes me how much can happen in three months.  The hard part was hearing what I had missed out on and knowing that I wasn't there for my loved ones when I was needed.  The happy part was seeing the smiles on all of their faces when they saw Aidan and the warmth of their hugs as they embraced us.
The heat was hard on all of us but most so on Aidan.  Most all of his time was spent in a motor home that was set up on site.  Even that didn't provide the relief that he needed from the heat though.  Mike and I were concerned but Aidan could have cared less.  He was having much too much fun.  The highlight of his day was meeting Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean and Spiderman.  They both traveled quite far to make a visit with him and they will never understand how much that meant to him and his parents.  Aidan always has something to say but when Spiderman came into the trailer he was at a loss of words.  The awe on that little boy's face is something I will cherish forever.  He could not believe that Spiderman had actually came to see him.  In fact he even got a personal web shooting lesson from Spidey himself.  Aidan definitely considers himself an expert now and he is more than happy to share his teachings.
There was so much that happened today and so many people to thank.  I would especially like to thank those that I do not know.  You came forward to help in miserable heat for a family you did not even know.  That is truly an unselfish act and one that you will be blessed for.  Then there are all of our amazing family and friends, these people have given of their time and efforts over and over again and each time they are needed they come through.  They are the true meaning of love.  They act unselfishnessly no matter how often they are asked to do so.  Thank you to all of you!
Although the day was hot, we were able to enjoy the sounds of the children laughing, beautiful voices providing song, family and friends catching up, and new family and friends being made.  It was a beautiful day indeed.
