Happy New Years 2008 - January 1, 2008

  To All of Aidan's Angels,

Wanted to leave a short message to wish you all a very Happy New Year and to provide a quick update.  With the good news 2007 provided for Aidan, we hope and pray that 2008 will bring him even better news and that this year his miracle will become complete.

Aidan continues to do very well with the exception of a having to deal with what appears to be a very bad cold.  Unfortunately, Aidan had to spend much of yesterday at Dr. Albertini’s office and Kadlec Hospital in Richland.  At the direction of his Nurse Practitioner at Seattle Childrens Hospital, Aidan had to endure a fairly full day of poking, prodding, testing, and “double make sure” additional testing.  This testing required that Aidan’s porta-cath be
accessed on two different occasions.  “Accessing” is Aidan’s very least favorite activity and always causes him much grief and consternation.  His Papa has been working with him on this, but with all the efforts it is still quite the ordeal.  After it was all said and done, Aidan asked Tanya if she would give Papa three messages… 1 “I love you”, 2 “I want to see you”, and 3 “things didn’t go all that well”.  Needless to say we still have a little work to do.

The very good news is that all of this was done out of an abundance of caution and had everything to do with a cold and nothing to do with the cancer.  It actuality, it is kind of nice that Aidan can have a run of the mill cold just like any normal kid.  In the past, every time Aidan had any kind of congestion it would cause additional cranial pressure, and this additional pressure would lead to a few very subtle, but very scary, tumor symptoms.  Maybe, just maybe, the lack of tumor symptoms this time around means that we will get some very good news with Aidan’s next MRI later this month.

So, I great big hug and thanks to you all for what you did last year for Aidan, and here’s to a even better year in 2008 for you and all your families.
