Tanya Shares Some Great News - February 6, 2008
| Hello Everyone, I apologize for my absence from personally writing. Things have been absolutely crazy for us. Not to worry though, everything with Aidan is great! Now, all the updates and news you’ve been waiting for... First, some very exciting news… we are expecting a baby girl at the end of May! As you can imagine, this little project has taken up quite a bit of my time. The first trimester was quite scary. After loosing our baby two years ago, we decided not to make any announcements until after the first trimester. Then, to my horror, I spent the first trimester spotting and cramping. It was a very difficult few months with all the added nausea and constantly feeling exhausted. Finally the second trimester started the week after Thanksgiving, and although the nausea and exhaustion didn’t subside, I felt much more confident about our bundle. | |
| As you all know, once the Holiday Season starts it is on a roll. It seemed that right after Thanksgiving we began the preparations for Christmas. And my plans to share our news got put on hold as we decorated, shopped, baked, wrapped, shopped, and continued on with the other life processes. To add to all of the mayhem, Michael was working quite a bit of overtime to help us get on our feet. And then the week of Christmas he worked nights (I don’t particularly enjoy that, I must admit). Christmas was wonderful. We had a houseful of people as usual on Christmas Eve, but instead of 20-25 this year it was a mere 15. A good number for an exhausted pregnant hostess. The night was filled with such fun and laughter, it seemed even the children were on their best behavior for the night. Somehow Michael and I managed to make it to bed at somewhat of a decent hour and then it was up bright and early to check out Santa’s goodies. After Santa we all bundled up and headed over to my parent’s house for Christmas dinner with the family. |

| New Years Eve day was a scary one for us. Aidan had been slightly ill for a few days leading up to New Years but things got progressively worse on this day. He began to have quite a difficult time breathing and he could not stop coughing. We were very scared too as we headed off to the emergency room. It would be the first of four visits over the next month. The doctors gave him a breathing treatment and ran about every test out there, and then we were given the ok to head back home doing treatments there when needed. The New Years night itself was a quiet one for the Zaugg’s. Michael and Sage stayed up playing video games while Tators slept upstairs and I fell asleep on the couch. I did manage to wake up for about fifteen minutes to usher in the New Year , and then it was back to bed for this tired mama. The rest of January was spent visiting at least two Doctors offices or a hospital each and every week. Between my visits for the baby, Aidan’s being ill, and Sage having some minor surgery on his toes, it was a medically filled month for sure. Oh, and I turned 34 this month, pregnancy is much different this time around I must say. Now February is here and we cross our fingers that we will see less of our doctors (although we love them) and more fun times at home. In fact the month is starting off with a bang. Yesterday was my mom’s birthday, and today is Sage’s 12th (he was just measured yesterday for his height and he is now officially taller than his Mother. Little Stink!). Sage’s best friend Taylor will celebrate his birthday tomorrow, and then my very good friend and Taylor’s mom Tonya after that. So, Happy Birthday to all of my loved ones and a very happy New Year to all of you! Love, Tanya PS: Thanks to all of you that sent Aidan cards, letters, and small gifts as a part of his being a January 2008 featured child at the Make a Child Smile website. It was quite the experience and Aidan really did enjoy having his own mailbox and receiving items from all over the US and many foreign countries. Your generosity and love for Aidan is amazing and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts! | |
