An Easter Miracle - March 23, 2008

Aidan’s Angels,

Easter is a very special day for Aidan, his entire family, and his many supporters.  Two years ago on Good Friday 2006 Aidan was diagnosed with a brainstem cancer known as Diffused Intrinsic Pontine Glioma.  Just like the Friday our Lord and his followers experienced almost 2000 years ago, it was a day filled with dread, horror, and sorrow.  Darkness filled every aspect of our lives and it was truly hard to see how this could possibly have a happy ending.  Well, just like the story in the Bible, three short days later our God reminded us through the miracle of his resurrection that all things are possible if we simply chose to believe.  Easter 2006 suddenly became much more then the traditional egg hunts, candy, and new clothes.  For all of us, Easter became the day our God had intended it to be; it became a day of hope and new beginnings.  We were reminded that indeed Miracles Happen Everyday... so Why Not Aidan?

Over these last two years Aidan has done his part to bring about this miracle.  He lived away from home for 5 months so that he could receive his radiation therapy, he put up with the numerous return trips to Seattle to visit his Doctors, he endured the constant poking and prodding, he was sedated more than you can count, and he continues to tolerate his daily Iressa chemotherapy and the minor side effects that come along with it.  For his efforts Aidan is being justly rewarded and our God is providing his promise to all of us.  Other than the occasional cold or flu bug like any normal kid, Aidan has been blessed with remarkably good health and appears to be living the life of any average kindergartner.  He plays hard, works hard, eats a ton, and is always in great spirits.  The only down side to his good health and wellbeing is that he is truly a high maintenance little boy.  Not high maintenance as you might expect from a boy that carries a brain tumor, but high maintenance in that he is always on the go and wanting to play, read, do crafts, cook, tell stories, almost anything except sit back and relax.  All things considered, a minor trade off for the miracle he is receiving.

April 14th will be the actual two year anniversary of Aidan’s diagnosis.  This pending anniversary will not signify the total defeat of this cancer, but it is a considerable victory nonetheless and one that brings with it the confirmation of the hope and new beginnings promised by that Easter Sunday two years ago.  Considering many believed Aidan would not be with us more then a few months, and considering he is now counting his survival in years, it is a victory of tremendous proportions and one which provides direct evidence that our God is a powerful God and with him all things are possible.

Thanks for your prayers that are making this possible, thanks for keeping Aidan in your daily thoughts, and thanks for joining us in celebrating Easter and the miracle that is Aidan,

To all that don't know, anytime there is a blog posted by "Aidan's Family" it is my amazing father who is the author. Dad, you managed to put into the most beautiful words what my heart feels. Thank you for all the hard work you do to keep Aidan's site up and running and for keeping us all posted on all the other beautiful children. You already know that you mean the world to Sage and Aidan, but know that you mean everything to this Daddy's Little Girl. Without you and Mom, Michal, Sage, Aidan and myself would have been lost during these last few years. Your constant love and support has helped to bring us through what could very well be described as the worse time of our lives. Yet, here we are and as I look back I can't help but look back with joy and happiness. God truly is blessing all of us with Aidan's healing.

    Love to you always,
    Tanya Lynn (Aidan's Mama)

I heard about this site this morning and thought I'd look in on it. Just yesterday the 26th my friend met you in a waiting room. She was telling me how your little boy was such a beautiful child and how he was a child ANYBODY could love. She was suprised to learn of his illness and saddened. I want to let you know you will be in our prayers also. She told me a bit about your experiance when you felt he would be all right. I love to hear those testamonies as I was privalaged to such an experiance about 11 years ago when my husband almost died. It is so wonderful that God cares enough to hold our hand through diffacult times. May he always be near you and yours.
