Message from Aidan's Family - June 14, 2008

Aidan’s Angels,

As many of you have already heard, yesterday’s MRI results were not what we were hoping and praying for.  To the contrary, the results showed that Aidan’s tumor has reawakened and it is now again aggressively attacking our hopes and dreams.  While we are deeply deeply disappointed, scared more than we thought possible, and hurting beyond description, you should know that there is not one ounce of “give up” in our family and it is our intent to continue to fight this monster until Aidan has received his miracle for which he is so deserving.

As Aidan’s Aunt Debbie has observed, we had become complacent and believed that stable and unchanging was the victory we were seeking, when in reality we had lost sight of our original goals which was to not only buy time, but to eventually see this tumor fully irradiated and to see Aidan cured.  Yesterday’s devastating news could very well be our Gods nudging so that we would make the moves necessary to see Aidan to his full and complete miracle.  Without this nudge, we would not have changed anything, and Aidan would have never been moved into a position to receive the miracle we were actually seeking.

We fully understand the implications of this latest MRI and are aware that the next moves must be determined relatively quickly.  We intend to use the next 48 hours or so to petition our God for guidance and to map out our next moves.  Aidan is scheduled for a CATScan and consultation at Seattle Children’s next Wednesday afternoon.  Until then, we will try to keep Aidan slowed down a bit so that he does not hurt himself due to the symptoms, and we will use the time to listen to others so that our eventual decision is made with all of the best information possible.

What can you do at this moment to help?  Well, we ask for your continued prayers, we ask that you spread the word of our new challenge, and we ask that you send Aidan an email or stop by his guestbook to let him know you are there.  The messages we have already received have been uplifting and have provided his family great comfort.

While nobody can ever be prepared for situations like this, we start our new travels with the knowledge that we will not be traveling this path alone and we will be surrounded by loving caring people.  You all have demonstrated your love and concern in the past, and we will be leaning on you for more in the days ahead.  Even though we may be out front, we know it is your support from behind that has brought us the two wonderful years we have already had with Aidan, and we know that support will see us through many more years to come.

With tremendous love and thanks for all you have done,

Aidan's Family

I'm sorry that the MRI did not give the results you hoped for. We will continue to uplift Aidsn in prayer, knowing that God can and does work miracles. We pray that his symptoms will ease and that he will be able to continue to live a 'normal' life as long as possible. Thinking of you all daily.

Hi! I got yoru name from Richard and Loretta Hines (Sara's parents) in NC. We met them at the NIH. They are asking special prayers for your little man and I just wanted to let you know that my little Jorden and I are going to pray for you and we'd like to turn in a prayer request for AIdan to our prayer team at church tomorrow. As a mom, I just wanted to let you know that I;m sorry you and your family are going through this. it sounds like you have an awesome support team surrounding all of you. Although Jorden does not have cancer (we still do not know exactly what it is, some bizarre immune dysfunction...) there was a time when they thought it WAS cancer, and I know that heart sinking, knee wobbling ache, I still get it when Jorden flares. Our prayers are with you and all kids with DIPG. RAPHA AIDAN, prayers from California, many blessings, Krissi and Jorden.

    Dear Zaugg family,
Paty called yesterday with the update on your situation. I had been keeping updated on your web page as well. Not the news we all hoped to hear is an understatement. Thomas continually wears his "WHY NOT AIDAN" red wrist band every moment of every day to also remind him of Aidan. Today in church, two very young children came over to Thomas to look at his wrist band. They each took a turn taking it off and placing it on their own little wrists before giving it back to Thomas. Thomas later said it made him nervous to let them play with it because he did not want them to break it.
Aidan and your family is always on our minds each and every day.
Many prayers will be said for all of you especially on Wednesday at your appointment in Seattle.
Much love from the Snider family
